Upbringing (Or: How to Make a Character Have More Dimensions than just Class and Race)

We mentioned earlier that one's upbringing would have more of an affect on who they were than simply their race.  This is true in the real world, as the whole nature over nurture argument shows, certainly, one's nature has something to do with who they become, but also their upbringing provides a great deal more effect as to who they become, so my aim is to incorporate that into the gameplay in some way, hence the idea of Upbringings, they describe how your character grew up and what things affected them.

Here's what I think upbringings should do:

- Grant 3 skills with +1 bonus
- Grant some sort of minor special ability or 2

And here's some ideas for Upbringings and what they would do:

Convent Raised
- +1 to Knowledge (Religion), Knowledge (History), Heal
- ???

Farm Raised
- +1 to Survival, Handle Animal, and Athletics
- ???

Wilderness Raised
- +1 Survival, Handle Animal, Knowledge (Nature)
- ???

City Raised
- +1 Negotiation, Linguistics, Connections
- ???

Elven City Raised
- +1 Negotiation, Knowledge (Magic), Knowledge (History)
- ???

Dwarven City Raised
- +1 Knowledge (Science), Negotiation, Profession
- ???

Fringe Society Raised
- +1 Acrobatics, Athletics, Survival
- ???

Necropolis Raised
- +1 Heal, Knowledge (Religion), Stealth
- ???

Nobility Raised
- +1 Knowledge (History), Negotiation, Dishonesty
- ???

Gnome City Raised
- +1 Knowledge (Science), Knowledge (Magic), Negotiation
- ???

Celestial City Raised
- +1 Knowledge (Religion), Perception, Heal

Infernal City Raised
- +1 Dishonesty, Thievery, Knowledge (Magic)
- ???

Streets Raised
- +1 Survival, Thievery, Stealth
- ???

Slavery Raised
- +1 Survival, +1 Breaking and Entering, Perception
- ???

As you can see, I don't have many ideas for special abilities at this point, I'm sure some will come to me as we play test along and everything.  Also, if you have any more ideas for good upbringings, by all means, post them here.  I would appreciate it, as I cannot come up with everything myself unfortunately.
